Bill Stork’s history combines an Industrial Engineering degree from St. Louis University with 40 years experience in the dry cleaning industry. Grandfather Will apprenticed under his uncle John at The Stork Laundry in Alton, IL. Will learned the tailoring business, expanded his service into dry cleaning, and owned the first dry cleaning machine in Madison County. Will’s sons, Bill and Joe, took over the dry cleaning business in the 1930’s and continued as partners until 1958.

Bill Jr. joined his father in 1965 after finishing college and after working with Chrysler Corporation as an industrial engineer. Bill continued the dry cleaning business after his father retired, expanding to three plants before selling out in the late 1970’s. Bill then operated a successful remodeling business for a few years, but his love of dry cleaning lured him back into the industry and he began his career in equipment sales. Installation, technical assistance, sales management and plant design followed.

Bill’s combination of industrial engineering and construction, plus his forty year romance with dry cleaning make him uniquely qualified to assist you with all your planning, layout, construction and training needs. Here’s what a few of his clients have to say about his work:

As our business has grown to include fire restoration, additional wholesale work and more drop stores, Bill’s advice has been invaluable – and he has always responded quickly as our plans change. Anyone needing help with production planning and equipment layout should contact him.

… Bill has, in fact, been responsible for the vast majority of the approximately 40 dry cleaning plants that Legacy has built nationwide. …His vast knowledge of the dry cleaning industry allows him to effectively communicate with architects, general contractors, city building departments and mechanical installers,…. Because Bill’s drawings are so very detailed we have been able to use them in place of an architect’s set of blueprints. …Bill also makes sure that he oversees the project, not only until it is completed, but is also generous with his time in doing follow up work with the new store.
